The community cards are A  3  Q  K  4 . Which one of the following examples is the best hand? After finding the answer practice calling out each five card hand.

A. A  A
B. J  10
C. 9  2
D. 2  5

First look to see if the board is paired, which is needed to have a full house. Next, look for a possible flush or a straight. When you look at this board see that their are two possible straights, an ace high if someone has a 10 and a J in their hand, or a five high straight if they have a 2 and a 5 in their hand. There are also three spades on the board, which puts out a possible flush. Since there is no possible full house, but there is a possible flush, look for the flush first, simply because any size flush will beat a straight. Player C has the best hand with a flush … Q  9  4  3  2 , which beats three aces, the ace high straight, and the five high straight.

Which of these hands would you choose to play if the flop came K  5  3 ?

A. A  K
B. A  J
C. 3  3

Choose B, Ad-Jd, because you would have the nut flush … A  J  K  5  3  Who would have the best hand if a K  came on the turn?

K  5  3  K

Player C would have the best hand, a full house … three three’s full of two Kings.

K  K  3  3  3

Which would beat player B’s flush and player A’s three Kings.

Who would have the best hand if a 5  came on the river?

K  5  3  K  5

Player A would have the best hand, with three Kings full of two fives. K  K  K  5  5

Which would beat player C’s three three’s full of two Kings or Player B’s Ace high flush.

Player A would be declared the winner of the pot.
